If you don't plan on using external speakers, it might be an issue for you. My only negative comment would be the audio quality, it is pretty poor, however, since I have my T240HD connected to external speakers, it's not a big deal for me. I've had my T240HD for a few weeks now, and I am extremely pleased with it both as a Monitor and an HDTV. Having 1080P on a TV this size is a huge advantage when connected to a computer.
I mean, this is a 1080p monitor. I don't know what kind of video cards others were connecting to, but I saw no problems at all with using the T240HD as a PC monitor. I have the monitor positioned about 40" away from me and I can still read the text perfectly. Using as a desktop extension, I am able to watch multi-media on the 24" LCD monitor while working on my PC.
My Samsung T240HD was just delivered today.I put it in my office to replace an old Samsung LTN1535 15" LCD TV.Let me assure you that this is a GREAT TV monitor that works well as a PC monitor as well. you get what you expect. It is as crisp as can be. Out of the box, attached to an Explorer 4250 HDC (HiDef cable box from Brighthouse), the picture color, contrast, and clarity are exceptional.
I'm watching You Tube on a large 24" screen while typing this review. Perfection. You can't go wrong with this product. I'm using an HDMI cable.Connected to my HP G60-235DX laptop, it was detected automatically and gave me option of mirroring the existing monitor or using as a desktop extension. I don't play games, so I can't vouch for response as a gaming monitor, but the clarity on you tube video is excellent.
As a lot of reviewers have already stated, this unit is better suited for HDTV viewing than actually using it as a computer monitor. As a TV:Pro - great picture quality with good colors/contrast. this can be improved by lowering the sharpness to about 50-55 or so.overall:pro - good for the price ([.].), and especially useful for people who are low on space but need a multi-functional monitor/tv (like me, hooking up a computer-DVI, PS3-HDMI, and xbox-HDMI all on one set, with even room to hook up an old ps2-component).con - my biggest gripe is that you really need to be facing the screen dead on at eye level because even moving your head to the left/right/up/down by 12 inches or more will start to drastically affect the color/brightness. the picture has a bluish tint to it but you can improve it slightly by setting the color temperature to warm (switch to "movie" setting first).as a computer monitor:pro - great resolution for large desktop and high def gaming. uncalibrated, or if you just use the standard settings from the menu the colors are horrible.con - smaller text does not appear very crisp.
if you just need a monitor this would be a waste and there are other monitors that perform better at comparable prices. and even at dead center the corners appear slightly vignetted. there is a digital optical out (which is awesome if you are like me and use 5.1 surround headphones) but if you want to hook it up to a stereo system or external speakers you need to use the headphone jack (not the greatest). if you are a professional (video/photo/graphics), this obviously wouldnt be the right one for you. when i tested this setup through the headphone jack the signal was noticeably noisy so i only use the digital out.last words:this set is good for people on a budget who NEED the functionality of a multi-use monitor/tv. awesome with blu-ray @ 1080pcon - if you are using this mainly for a tv, the 16:10 aspect ratio will always give you bars.
and it sucks not having height adjust, so you need to find a stand that is exactly the right height.a smaller gripe is that there is no analog stereo line level out. but even just as a HDTV, its not a bad deal if you can stand the bars on top and bottom. when properly calibrated (i used the system preferences for display>color on OSX, not the menu on the display) the colors are really awesome. it appears similar to using the PC input on a consumer TV or using a non-native resolution setting (even though 1920x1200 is native).
It's being approximately a month, and I have not hear from them. Well. They said I have to way to because they do not have any, and that I have to wait, and they said that they do not know until when. That's my review. My daughter was very happy when she first got the 24-inch LCD HDTV, but a week after the tv malfuntioned. I call the amazon company and they said that I have to reported to the company that make it, and so I did.
